If you’re web design or web developer guru and love WordPress, you should check out GetSimple CMS and the new GSThemes Marketplace. Like WordPress, GetSimple CMS is very similar in nature and offers the same great template system that utilizes theme hooks. GetSimple CMS is a flat file XML CMS system that was launched back in 2011 with simplicity in mind for small client and business websites. When comparing the two WordPress and GetSimple CMS, GS is ten times more light-weight and more secure. As a flat file xml driven CMS, hacking is less likely to happen as much as it does on any WP site. This premo CMS platform is a free open-source script and continues to grow in contributors.
GetSimple CMS has lacked in one category compared to WP and that is themes. If you visit GetSimple CMS you will see that premium themes are non-existent. Although they do have theme designer contributing free themes, non of them are really top notch and delivered as premium. Recently we started doing some research to see if anyone had started jumping the Get Simple them band wagon and came across a few design companies offering some clean premium themes.
The first website that we found was GetSimpleThemes.com.
GetSimpleThemes offers around 5-6 premium style themes with business and magazines in mind. At about $25 minimum you can pick up one their smaller themes to get by with a simple business or personal website. As of lately it looks their customer support has kind of fallen off the map, at least from what we read from other buyers and users. Although the support may be lacking, users are still buying because GetSimple CMS is still moving forward rapidly.
Now the next website that we came across looked to be brand new called GSThemes.com. This website was actually a great find which is why I am it sharing it with you now. GSThemes is actually a 3-in-1 website created by some popular theme designers. At the new GetSimple Theme Marketplace things are setup similar to Themeforest but not exact. Members of GS Themes can sell their own premium designs, buy premium themes and can refer sales for a small commission. Each theme designer that becomes a premium author can make anywhere from 60% – 70% while the remaining goes back in to GSThemes for development and support. Currently there’s only a few members so we decided to reach out to them to see we what their plans were for the new year and this what they said…
“We plan to bring in all of the developers that are in the GetSimple CMS community to join us and help grow GetSimple CMS. GetSimple has a lot of potential, especially for building killer websites for clients at half the cost and more effectively. We do plan on reaching out to further help GetSimple get exposed and we’re confident that others will too.”
Now that you’ve learned about the GetSimple CMS platform and the finding of GSThemes.com Marketplace, join them both today and get your CMS on. Try something new and give them a go if you haven’t already, you will not be disappointed.
